Born in 1964, Peter started painting professionally at the age of 22, having graduated from Leicester University. He immediately found a ready market for his work with his last three solo exhibitions selling out within hours of opening. His paintings have now gained a far wider audience following the publication of his work. Working exclusively in oils, Peter is primarily a landscape painter, although he is as happy painting crowded street scenes in Nepal as his more familiar paintings of rivers, mountains and the coast of the British Isles.
He is an enthusiastic admirer of the great traditional landscape painters, particularly those painting in Britain and France towards the end of the Nineteenth and beginning of the Twentieth Centuries. Following their example, he continually seeks to more beyond mere topographical accuracy to create mood and atmosphere through the use of tone and light.
