Picture mountboard is used for both practical and aesthetic reasons. It can make your picture look more impressive, whilst keeping theglass from touching your work, which is a very important part of picture framing.
CollectorsPrints.co.uk has a full range of picture mountboard as a part of our bespoke picture framing service. There are many colours to choose from and all of our mountboard is acid-free which will help look after your artwork.
Mounts also come in different thicknesses. The thicker the mount is, the deeper the bevel and the more dramatic the piece will look. Your artwork can be framed with a single or a double mount. By using multiple mounts, colours in your artwork can be brought out to enhance and sharpen the image. The mount can also help lead the eye from the frame to the image and make the image the focal point.
We offer 4 different ways to glaze your artwork. To ensure that your artwork reaches you in perfect condition we use acrylic glass if the framed item is over 16".
Plain Glass
"Papered Float Plain Glass"
This is the traditional material used for glazing prints. Clear and strong, Float glass is a top quality material and the choice for bespoke framing. Papered Float Plain glass will protect your print or original from dust and insects infiltration. Easy to clean and maintain this product will last for many years.
Non Reflective Glass
"Diffused Reflection control glass"
Ideal for controlling reflections in harsh or difficult lighting, this glass has been lightly acid-etched on either side to give a very smooth even surface, the process of doing this breaks up the light solving issues against excessive glare and/or harsh lighting and directly reduces the 'mirror effect'. Easy to clean and maintain this product will last for many years.
Plain Acrylic
"Art screen Plus Clear U.V. Stabilised"
An alternative to using traditional glazing this new product still retains several properties of normal glass, the main and most important being that its the closest match to glass, very clear and not prone to aging and weathering. An added extra to this product is that the sheets Have Been treated to be U.V resistant which cuts down the U.V filtration which normally over several years could damage prints, discolouration being an example. Being an acrylic the sheets are very tough and hard wearing, easy to clean and manage, lighter than traditional glass and also recyclable.
