Edition Number

The handwritten number on a limited edition print is vital as it guarantees not only the size of the print run but also the authenticity of the edition. Numbers are inscribed to indicate the number of the print within the total run – e.g. 3/95 would mean it is the third print in a set of 95 identical prints. The plates, films and materials involved in the reproduction process are all destroyed, following printing, which further ensures their authenticity.
