About the Artwork
For this magnificent piece, Steve Tandy took inspiration from his favourite city, New York as well as his favourite musician, Jay-z. The title comes from the chorus of Jay-z’s song ‘Empire State of Mind’. This piece shows subtle hints of the impacts of deforestation and the habitat of wild animals, suggesting that the beautiful animals such as the jaguar in this piece will soon have to live in a concrete jungle.
